In the wake of the remake of USAID and the updates in U.S. foreign assistance priorities and strategies, the focus has led to a freeze in funding levels for development initiatives in Haiti. Such a freeze has wide-ranging implications across sectors—health, education, agriculture, economic growth, and governance—where many local communities and organizations depend on USAID support. As these gaps emerge, Haitian stakeholders must identify new strategies, resources, and partnerships to continue critical development work and ensure communities do not fall behind.

Presentation and Fire-Side Chat Discussions:

  1. Landscape overview of USAID’s past and current mandate in Haiti, including budgetary allocations and key project portfolios.
  2. Clarify which sectors are most affected by the funding freeze and the immediate or long-term fiscal impacts.
  3. Hear from private sector leaders, donors, and NGOs on how reduced funding is impacting their operations and beneficiaries.
  4. Spotlight both challenges and innovative adaptations emerging at the local level.
  5. Identify short-term and long-term solutions for filling funding gaps.
  6. Leverage existing development networks, diaspora support, public-private partnerships, and multilateral collaborations to sustain critical projects.
